Chilli is James Cheal's label from Sydney's Northern Beaches. He went out on his own in 1996 in a small factory bay in Freshwater, and later moved to Warriewood.
Cheal built his reputation shaping for Nathan Hedge and for surfers such as Joel Parkinson, Mick Fanning and Andy Irons. Chilli boards are known for clean, high-performance lines that still feel friendly in everyday waves.
